Why should you donate?

We are Yelyzaveta (Eliza) and Floris. Since the 24th of February 2022, we have lived with the uncertainty of the lives of our family and friends in Ukraine.

Since the war started our family and friends are in desperate need of water, food and medical supplies. Just like thousands of others that are stuck in the warzone, unable to flee the violence and destruction. People are struggling.

This, however, is only the beginning. Once the war ends, a lot of people will have to start over. Their houses are destroyed, their money has been given to support the army.

Please stand with us, our family and our friends. Please #standwithukraine and donate today.

About Eliza and the family/friends back in Ukraine
I (Yelyzaveta), was born in the Kiev region in 1994. I lived in a small village in Ukraine until I came to Holland in 2018. While I was in Holland, I met Floris and since 2020 I have permanently moved to Leiden to share my life with him.

My family is still in Kyiv (Kiev) and they cannot get out of the warzone. My sister is trying to save lives as an army nurse in a local hospital. She has not been ' home' since the start of the Russian invasion and hasn't seen her husband and two children since then. Everyday she is afraid that her family will be hurt and she can do nothing about it. Her husband, Viktor, daughter Olenka (16), son Yaroslav (7) and little cousin Lilia (7) are all sleeping in a cold cellar to stay safe from the Russian bombings. They told me that they hear explosions and the army tanks drive by their house.

My mother, who lives 2 hours drive from the Belarus border has to frequently hide in the cellar beneath her house. She lives in an even smaller village. Everytime the air raid sirens sounds, half of the village comes to take shelter in her cellar. Even though they are all cold and afraid, they try to make the best of the bad situation. It might sound weird, but they are the ones that comfort me and tell me that everything will be ok. I'm trying to support them in every way I can. And I hope you can help me.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, so I am sharing how my little nephew and niece are lying in the cellar. It breaks my heart seeing them like this and I hope it will show you just how bad the situation really is.

The Ukrainian people are fighting a heroic and historic war for which they pay with their lives and homes.
